How to Use CBD Isolate?

CBD isolate is an interesting topic in a variety of ways. Subject to much discussion, this very different looking form of CBD is intriguing if nothing else. But what is CBD isolate? And as the title of this article suggests, how do you use CBD isolate?

What is CBD Isolate?

CBD isolate is pretty much what the name suggests, it is isolated CBD, stripped back of everything else that is found in the industrial hemp plants that CBD is derived from including essential oils, terpenes, and perhaps most importantly, other cannabinoids such as THC. This is done through some pretty intense and complex extraction processes, which we have gone into before, so we’ll avoid assaulting you with the intricacies of that again here.

If you’re looking for a CBD product with not even trace amounts of THC (like the 0.2% ish you find in most products) CBD isolate is one of the available choices.

It looks very different, and that affects many people who are made pretty uncomfortable by the small white crystals, but rest assured, it is just CBD, whatever else it may look like (we wouldn’t know, because we are entirely innocent and naïve humans when it comes to such things).

The Great Isolate vs Full Spectrum Debate

Early on in the CBD revolution that we are all currently a part of, CBD isolate was the big talking point, the belief was that CBD that was rid of all its additional parts was the most effective form of the cannabinoid.

However, popular opinion has been changing over recent years, with the more commonly held belief being that full-spectrum CBD is in fact the better choice.

Full spectrum CBD is, as you have probably guessed, CBD with all the bits left it, including terpenes, which are believed by many to have health benefits (caryophyllene binds to cannabinoid receptors and is thought to potentially relieve pain, limonene has been used as an anti-stress ingredient in folk medicines for generations, and there are many more, read all about terpenes here

The argument pitting CBD isolate against full spectrum CBD is likely to run on for a long time yet, it’s kind of like the debate between smooth and chunky peanut butter. For us, we all favour full spectrum, and that’s what you’ll find in the majority of our products (but we do NOT agree when it comes to smooth or chunky peanut butter, that fight is likely to continue forever in P&H HQ).

How Should I Use CBD Isolate?

Now we’ve done the legwork in terms of adding some historical context to CBD isolate, let’s actually get into asking the question that started this entire article, how do you use CBD isolate?

There’s a bunch of ways to use CBD isolate, and none is necessarily better or worse than any other in terms of the effects of CBD, it’s all a matter of personal preference.

If you favour simplicity, you can simply put a little CBD isolate in your mouth and let it dissolve, this method takes very little prep, basically you have to life your hand to your mouth, and the job is done.

If you’re a little more creative than that, you may prefer to add CBD isolate to something, juices or smoothies are a popular method, although we favour the hot drink angle (some of us say coffee, others say tea, one pervert says hot chocolate, it’s the peanut butter thing all over again). You can put it in meals too, CBD isolate doesn’t really taste of anything, so it is just a matter of preference really.

For the really innovative out there who are into making salves, topicals, and beauty products, CBD isolate is a good ingredient to use in the creation of these things. We have some articles coming giving advice on making such products, so keep an eye out for those.

Essentially, it’s entirely up to you how to use it, the only limit is your imagination (well, as well as your own moral code and the laws of your place of residence, let’s not go too crazy here…).
