How to Make CBD Butter
Our “How to Bake” series continue here with how to make CBD butter. This is a necessary and logical one, as CBD’s cousin, THC has been used in butter mixes for a long time to produce an ingredient for cakes and numerous other baked goods, as well as just spreading on bread if you’re that way inclined.
While we all know about ‘cannabutter’, less effort has been made into creating CBD butter, and we’re here to fix that right here and right now!
CBD butter is the easiest way to create a plethora of different CBD recipes. Yes, there is a smorgasbord of ways to make baked goods using CBD, but if you’ve perfected CBD butter, it all becomes so much easier to do!
Once you’ve made your butter, you can use it in any recipes that ask for butter, as long as you stay aware of one thing.
If CBD butter is heated above 350f (175C, gas mark 4) then it will start to dissipate and you’ll love much of that tasty flavour, so avoid any recipes that necessitate a higher heat than that.
Right, now the preamble is out the way, let’s get into it.
P&H’s Beautiful CBD Butter Recipe:
If you’re expecting complex here, you are certainly not going to get it. Many will suggest an intricate procedure combining multiple ingredients to create the perfect CBD butter, for us, the simplest way is the best way. Basically, what you’re doing here is stripping the butter down and rebuilding it.
For this insanely simple recipe, you’ll need the following:
Butter (3 cups)
Water (1-2 cups)
CBD oil (20 ml of your chosen strength)
The method is simple too, it goes like this:
- Put everything into a small saucepan (you’ll want to cut the butter into small pieces for ease here)
- Heat on the hob at a low temperature for around 2 hours
- Remove from the heat and leave to cool
- Place in a container, and refrigerate
- Leave it for a few hours, and you’ll have your CBD butter all ready to go!
Can I Use CBD Butter on Bread?
While CBD butter (as normal butter, to be fair) is predominantly used in baking, you can use it like you’d use margarine if you’d like. In fact, you can make CBD margarine much the same way as above.
If you are doing that, be aware that the taste may take a little getting used to, so you may want to combine your CBD butter/margarine with something else.
If you are looking for the perfect combination, why not add another CBD infused masterpiece in the shape of CBD honey, you will find a few options on our CBD edibles page, and they’re all properly tasty!
Our Favourite Uses of CBD Butter
What you do with your CBD butter is entirely up to you, but at P&H HQ, we have a few favourites. We won’t add recipes here, or this will become a bit recipe heavy, but you can easily google tasty recipes. When you add CBD to these recipes, they become something else, so you can name them. We’ve got a few ideas of our own for names, we’ll add them below too.
- Chocco CBD Carnival Cake of Craziness – It’s a chocolate cake with CBD butter, but doesn’t it sound more fun this way?
- Stand Back Jack, it’s a CBD Flapjack – It’s a… CBD flapjack
- You Can Make a Man Break With a Tasty CBD Pancake – … CBD pancakes…
- CBDeebie-Jeebies – Okay, so this is just a usual jam sponge but with CBD butter, but we wanted to use the pun, so we used it for this!
