Can You Take CBD When You’re Sick?
When it comes to CBD and sickness, the chances are you have one of three questions. Can I take CBD When I’m sick? Can CBD help me when I’m sick? And finally, and perhaps most importantly, can CBD make me sick?
Because we’re magnanimous humans who go out of our way to treat you the very best we can at all times, we are going to endeavour to answer all three of those questions in this article, starting with the first, and most frequently asked.
Is it Okay to Take CBD When You’re Feeling unwell?
There is nothing to suggest that taking CBD when you’re sick is a particularly bad idea. However, our personal advice depends on how often you have taken CBD before.
For example, if you are considering taking CBD for the first time, then it is best to do so when you are feeling healthy.
While there is nothing to directly suggest that taking CBD will make you feel any worse, it’s best to not try anything new when you’re sick.
Also, be aware that it is possible that CBD could interact with any medication you could be taking, so be sure to consult your doctor before taking CBD if you are on any medication.
Can CBD Help You When You’re not well?
If you ever read up on CBD when you are sick, you will likely read phrases like “potential benefits”. If you don’t read potential, and the source you are using claims multiple proven benefits, it’s worth researching, they are probably not a source to be trusted.
The reason for the word “potential” is that research isn’t finished yet. While there are numerous scientific studies that show positive results when it comes to the possible health benefits of CBD, none of them has found conclusive enough evidence for CBD to be seen as a health product.
In fact, with the exception of Epidiolex, which is an FDA approved epilepsy medication, there is no other licensed medication containing CBD, yet.
There is a lot of anecdotal evidence from people who believe that taking CBD was helpful for them during periods of sickness, and there’s nothing stopping you trying it, but we’re not telling you categorically that it’ll help.
Can CBD Make You Ill?
CBD is considered to be safe by most who have researched or taken it, but there is a slight possibility of side effects.
Potential side effects (similarly to potential benefits, these are not proven at this point) can include nausea and dizziness, although it seems that cases of this are very rare.
However, if you feel any negative effects from taking CBD, it is advisable to stop taking it immediately. If you want to try again, talk to your doctor, and consider a much lower dose. If you still react to it, then you should really stop.
The chances are that CBD will not make you feel sick, and even if you do feel side effects, there’s nothing to suggest they will be anything but very brief.
So, when you break it all down, it’s kind of up to you. There is a lot of material to suggest that CBD can be helpful when you’re sick, but either way, it’s pretty much accepted that it won’t do you any damage.
If you want to try CBD, sick or otherwise, it is entirely legal for you to do so, just remember to be careful, and start with a low dose if you’re new to CBD.
When it comes to what to do when you’re sick though, our advice is simple. Consult a doctor, then keep yourself warm, cosy, and well-hydrated, rest as much as you can, and try and get someone to look after you because we all deserve to be looked after sometimes, especially when we’re feeling poorly.
Whether you want to add CBD to that or not is entirely up to you, we’re not here to tell you what to do, we just don’t like it when you’re sick!
